Many happenings take place or have taken place in the world and people tend to commemorate this days by adoring celebrations and annual practices to make sure the marks on the calendar do not just pass like normal days. Holidays are important in figuring that some important events took place in the world and they were meant to be landmarks to that day. When they are indicated on calendars and accepted by the government of a country they are termed national holidays while if they are sort of informal they are thought of as public holidays but all of them are honored by the suspension of work and school.

International public holidays are mainly recognized by the world as whole and are mainly in association with the governments of many countries and are therefore placed at the position of national holidays, they are used by the people to remember some happenings that took place in history. Many of these public holidays are not only meant for celebration purposes but also to appreciate the magnitude of events and timeliness, common school holidays are marked to give the children the needed attention and mainly for child development the likes of children’s day, teachers’ day and youth day. Some national holidays are also reason for school holidays by virtue of the meaning of the day, Independence Day which is patriotic to everybody and has to be respected by all. Public holidays are meant to be observed under the countries policies and although they may vary in different countries, most businesses and public amenities have to be closed on these days as will be observed in the public holiday 2012.

In terms of business, the knowledge of the public holidays is relevant in understanding how your pay will turn out if you take a leave on a holiday and therefore establish the effects of the holidays on your pay.
